ID? Any idea?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Not sure what this is, but i'm thinking either CG or Dr.S. It was a cutting that i took 2 winters ago and it just bloomed.
Starts out yellow and then turns orangey. Leaves are smooth.

I can't believe this bloom doesn't have an ID yet. hummmmmm

Hey guys do you all need a closer shot, or a different angle?

I really can't tell. With the heavy ribbing on the sides, it doesn't remind me of either of them, but it's been so long since I've seen either of them bloom that it's no wonder my memory is failing me. I really need blooms badly. LOL!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Girl, you can just toss it my way. lol lol

Will you take a picture holding the bloom toward the camera.
Now don't I sound like I know what I'm talking about. lol lol

From what I've read, some people have say it's the same Brug, but other folks have come back with the opinion that side by side you can definitely tell the difference.

Judy,
I'll do that in the morning when the lighting is better. If youre interested in it, i'll send a cutting but believe me, you dont want me to send the plant, lol, shipping would be cost prohibitive.
Its pretty, seems to bloom in big flushes, is unique in that it has 2 different colors at the same time, smells devine, but has no name....
Brugie,
Thanks to the greenhouse i've had bloom sisnce Dec?/Jan . Creamsicle is blooming its head off. Ya know, i thought that maybe it was the heat down here that didnt allow it to orange up, but the weather has been gorgeous lately, today our high was 86 and the flowers are still creamy white and then creamy brown with no hint of orange.....i'm thinking this is another one that will hit the pile this fall. Such a shame because i think she has the biggest flowers out of all the ones i have.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

MSJen, I want "right of refusal" if you decide to compost.

I got it, I got it..... DS blooms are bigger that CG, much bigger. How big are these blooms. When you take the picture put you hand in it to give us a comparison. (Don't I sounds like I know what I'm talking about. lol lol)

My Dr Seuss opens yellow then turns orangy. I know that helps you a lots :-)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I always thought CG blooms were bigger than Dr. Suess. CG leaves are supposed to be smooth on the edges and Dr. S. leaves are supposed to be serrated. That's the extent of my knowledge about them. LOL! This is supposed to be CG. I love the colors. I'll put a picture of the whole plant in here too, but I have to say that it did have a few leaves with serration on them.

This is a picture of the Dr. Suess that I had a couple of years ago. I sure can't tell the difference.

My CG has buds now, first time to bloom for me.

Shirley, they are both just stunning. Love the shot from below, looking up. One of my favorite views.

Thanks Linda, mine too.

MS your picture looks like my Jean Pasco that is just starting to open.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

ahhh, the plot thickens, lol
i'll take one with my hand to compare, but i wouldnt say its large, i think the one it bloomed next to was much larger and it had serrated leaves. Maybe this one is cg?

is this call recurve?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sure is Jen. Very heavy recurve too.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

A really nice recurve Jen. Great job!

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Well Dang!!!

We don't know anymore than when we started, but I love whatever it is!!

Does Jean have recurve?

Got to thinking that being so close to Gloria, there really is no telling what this one is. She gave me so many cuttings that its probably impossible to get a correct id. Maybe this summer i'll try to pollinate with known pollen, at least to rule out.
I guess i just assumed that it was either cg or drs, although it does resemble cg. (gorgeous pics btw, brugie)
may just keep it because of the recurve and see what comes out of it...just call it an unknown multi-hybrid?
my whole yard smells like it, you walk out the back door and it smacks you in the face.

I don't have as much recurve if that's JP you have...but they're all different in their own way I guess. I think it looks like 'After Glow' but what do I know lol....IMHO :) I thought I would use that once hehe :0)

Here's After Glow

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I dont think i had afterglow...does JP start out really yellow and then turn into the orange?
I tell ya, this sure shows the importance of keeping these things labeled, doesnt it? Could you imagine if this was a really good one and we were going through this? Yikes, lol

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Jen the calendar I sent you has I think 2 pictures of Dr. Suess. One is really yellow and then the other is a close up of one orange bloom and it is the same plant. It was originally sent to me as CG by Cala and then later she emailed me and told me it was Dr. Suess. It does get oranger as the plant ages and as it puts our more blooms. The bloom above that you are showing doesn't look the big bloom the DS has.

Jim, i agree that the bloom doesnt look like dr s...the calyx (?) on yours appears to come down much further than this one.
sure is confusing
