An "heirloom" iris.....

Aurora, TX(Zone 8a)

My 90 yr. old grandmother sent me home w/bulbs that I dug up from her yard. They'd been there for about 40 years, given to her from a neighbor who'd had them ???? long! I was thrilled to see them come up and bloom, and I think this gentle blossom is just lovely. Needless to say, I'll pass the rhizomes on to my daughter.

With so many new varieties being introduced each year it is hard to keep track of the wonderful old heirloom irises, and that is so unfortunate because many of them were so faithful year after year. One treasure that's still available is Wabash, a bicolor with white standards and deep blue falls, and fragrant. It was introduced in 1936. I once had a beautiful one called California Girl that was a consistent rebloomer. Wish I could find it again.

I was given this one at the Lewisville plant swop last year. Can anyone put a name to it?
