Does anyone know what happened to Bulbmeister?

I placed a large order on their Website on February 13th and received an e-mail confirmation. Since then, nothing. The site says they are temporarily closed, but I wonder whether this means that all orders were cancelled. I've sent e-mails at one-week intervals for the last month and a half, but no one responds. It's breaking my heart because their prices and selection can't be beaten.

I was at their site the other day and saw the same thing. Wonder if they are staying in Arkansas or moving out of state??? I've not ordered from them but they were coming up on some bulb searches I was doing. Guess I'll be waiting to try them out until Fall at the earliest.

It really is too bad because I was counting on filling some spaces with that order, but I don't think they ever charged my credit card, so I haven't really lost anything. I just wish they could have notified me one way or the other. It's so frustrating to keep sending e-mails that never get answered.

What does the Garden Watchdog say about them?

100% positive - 10 comments. I've not ordered from them before but sure had quite a list together of bulbs. I do fully intend on ordering in the Fall. Lots of species tulips.

Then it doesn't sound like a rip-off, thankfully.

You're up late, Darius! Hope you've been doing well and back to 100% since your hospital stay. Haven't run into you much lately on here. I miss reading your posts. I've not been getting around to all the forums like I did in winter.

I'm only up late because all I did from Monday @ 8pm until this noon was sleep at the hospital, LOL. Must have been something in my IV line.

Zuzu,

I am pretty sure that Bulbmeister is a company of one person. I have dealt with him over the past few years and always had a very positive experience. I am sure that if he were able he would answer your email. We should keep him in our thoughts and prayers since we have no idea what life altering experience has caused him to have to close down his business so abruptly.

As a self employed person myself I know from experience how awful it can be to get sick and not be able to meet your daily business responsibilites.

I think he's ok patternmaker as they website says...

"TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL SUMMER/FALL 2005 TO ALLOW FOR NURSERY RELOCATION."

So I'm guessing he needed more space and is simply moving the operation. Let's hope.

You're absolutely right, patternmaker, and that's why I posted this thread instead of harassing him with more e-mails. I'm also self-employed and I know just what you mean.

Dear Friends:

I have been touched by this string of comments. I'm very sorry for the complete lack of communication on my part. My family and I were unexpectedly in the middle of a battle with the Devil, I mean, a developer, we made our deal with for moving home and nursery. We spent a year and a half in limbo with the very real prospect that we would be homeless (banks were involved). The whole process was only supposed to take 6 months by written contract. Anyway, I managed to complete all business related to the spring '05 list, but I have not been able to publish again until now. The improvements were finally completed last fall, but it took this long to "get all ducks in a row" for dormant bulb imports.

I lost a great deal of nursery stock due to the situation, so recovery will take several seasons in that respect, most probably. Thankfully, the Lycoris were moved in an "almost timely" fashion and had better show me they are back in full swing by this fall and next spring.

For those who did put Bulbmeister in your thoughts and prayers, I do believe they were honored, and I am eternally grateful. Please forgive any lack of communication on my part. Besides legal advice to keep the situation out of the public eye, I just had no way of speculating when we would be up and running again.

We were also experiencing a number of problems, including e-mail issues, with our server provider at that time, which prompted moving to a new service shortly thereafter.

Did you all notice there's a Bulbmeister lily coop going on right now? If you want any, better hurry. There's a limit to how many people can participate.

Bulbmeister, did you see this thread I created a little while later? Doesn't it make you feel good to inspire such joy? Those bulbs were absolutely gorgeous and they all bloomed beautifully for me.

Looks like the Bulbmeister site is up and running again.
