frostweed, I'm SO glad you posted this photo.... I started a seed of what I believed should have been a Bird of Paradise..... but it ended up not looking anything like what I expected from a 'standard' BOP..... I figured I had dropped some other seed and have been debating on tossing the seedling out........ BUT it looks just like the leaves on this plant......... So it is a BOP just not the BOP I was expecting........

I am glad the picture was helpful to you. I have been posting pictures of foliage and emerging plants because they are not usually shown, and we need those too for identification.

How long will it take for a plant to flower from seeds. I live in Morocco and started one from seed last year. It is outside and has survived the first winter although it really does not get colder than 5 degrees Celsius here. In spring, I had to cut it back drastically because of spider mite but it has recovered and shows new growth. This will be its second winter and no sign of any flower buds...How long will it take?

Martin, i would say by the third or fourth year you should get some flowers, Good luck.
