Red is finally showing some color

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It has been blooming profusely for weeks now I hear..... but very pale. This morning it opened darker. I have lots of seedlings out there from this one, I am hoping for a beauty that is easy to root.

She looks beautiful, even though she isn't as dark as her summer color. I STILL have her summer picture as my wallpaper. It was bumped for a couple of weeks for a Christmas scene, then back to her usual place of honor!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Love that one!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

WTG Kell .... I can hardly wait to see her color later!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

What a beauty!! She'll get even darker as the summertime heat kicks into high gear!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Just beautiful Kell, I hope she does well this summer.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Beautiful-beautiful!!!!! The color is stunning. My pinks are still pale. Even plants that are normally very dark. Our night temps have still been in 50's and last two nights they dipped to 40. My brugs are all outside and requesting coats. LOL

I'm back in the 30s at night, with rain and wind for the past week. Some of my larger trees are budded up (Rosamond finally, Charles Grimaldi Butterfly and Dr Seuss).

That is a beauty Kell. Nice intense color that makes itself standout. Best of luck with your seedlings.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Oh my Kell that is gorgeous. I would love to have one of those when they become available.

None prettier. You did great!

She definitely is getting darker at your weather warms. It will be interesting to see what her seedlings produce and I do hope you get the stronger rooting factor that you are seeking.

Whitewater, WI

Still a beauty, no matter what time of year......... :)

Reminds me of a song by this old band Thin Lizzy... "Still in love with you".......

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Eva!!!! We have a lot in common these days. LOL

Sandy, this is a Susie hybrid. What would we all do without Susie's beauties? I sent her 2 of them and she killed them. LOL. I need to get going and try rooting more.

Whitewater, WI

Yep, a lot..... LOL

Good to see you back on the forum.... it's been too quiet without ya...... :)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

So happy to see Red again. She is a true beauty

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

We sure would not be as happy without Susies beauties. Do they root easy like other brugs or are they harder to root. I am also very happy we have you Kell.

Blessings,

Thanks Sandy. For some reason Red is terrible to root. I do have a big 2nd one going but it has been going all winter and is not robust. I bet it has a terrible root system. The mother plant is big and grows well, it just hates to be rooted. All my other Susie brugs root great. Sexy Lady is one of hers too, and it roots where she drops.

and thanks Eva. You and I always enjoyed a good laugh even at our own expense. LOL

Thanks Donna.

I figured it would be. There is something about red in about everything that is difficult.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

that is lovely kell

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Kell, have you tried rooting in it straight perlite. I couldn't root Golden Lady to save my life until this last summer. I potted the cuttings up in Straight perlite put it in a ziplock bag like you do and watered it in the bag, letting about an inch of water sit in the bottom of the bag. Closed it up after blowing some air in and set them aside. Almost everyone I did that way rooted. I did have the bags with the cuttings in the greenhouse where it got very warm. But you could use a propagating mat under thhem and get the same effect.
