new hybrid

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

I know--it is white. The plant has enormous serrated leaves that are a beautiful deep blue-green and the corolla has thick walls. Milk N Honey x Whiskers. The flower stays nice for 5 days and changes to a golden yellow when looking at the bottom of the corolla-the tube remains white/cream.

Pretty one. Maybe it will get some color?

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

I really like the white. I know everyone wants pinks and yellows but to me whites can be just a beautiful. Particularly against the blue-green leaves. I am going to cross it with a orange to try to get a yellow and hoping to keep the leaves.

I LOVE white too Barb. Yours is elegant, lots of substance, holding power, so it seems.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

What a Beauty!! I love White,always have.

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Bward: Where did you come across your Milk N Honey x Whiskers? It is beautiful. I am like you, I love white flowers and especially with the color of the leaves it is exceptional.

I will have to look for one myself. I would like to add it to my Maya I have started, and to a Peaches and Cream that I am lucky to be receiving from a wonderful DG'er.

Aren't these the most beautiful flowers, they are one of my favorites, and the other being the Hibiscus.

Come on Summer, warm night and 90 degree days, I can do without the 100 degree days.

Linda

Edit to add: I guess I didn't read your post very well, I didn't realize you pollinated it yourself. Keep up the good work it is really something to be proud of.

I do like the shape of this one. It reminds me a lot of one of the seedlings I grew from one of Monika's seeds last year. I have to put the picture on here so I can look at them together.

Brugie your white is awesome as well. What is it called?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I haven't named it yet. I want to watch it bloom this summer again before I decide what to do with it.

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Barbara, that was an inspired cross. Whiskers, for me, always has such anemic looking leaves and I have always wanted to have a whiskers equivalent flower with much healthier looking leaves. Milk and Honey does have very nice dark leaves, you done good!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Is this the first time M&H x Whiskers has been crossed??

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Barbara it is really lovely

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

It picked up a lot of aurea from it's family crosses.

size of leaves
sheen of corolla
thickness of corolla walls

The family history of the flower is as follows:
Milk N Honey x Whiskers
Milk N Honey(Ecuador Pink x versi peach)
Whiskers (Charles Grimaldi x Aurea Gold)
Charles Grimaldi (Dr. Seuss x Frosty Pink)

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Barbara, goodness gracious, that sure is pretty. So pure and lovely. Reminds me of fresh white linen :)

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Thanks everyone- I took a cutting two weeks ago on some rather green stem and it is already rooted. Another plus-easy to root.

It is extremely fragrant and good pollen producer.

If anyone has some orange-single -flower pollen, I would appreciate some.

Brugie, the ones you grew out were very pretty. What was the cross?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Whites are so pure and have such a refreshing look about them. I do love them in the garden and they always stand out so much in the evening and at night.

Barbara, it is great that it roots so easily.

Shirley yours is pretty also and I love your deck area.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Very nice Barb. I love white ones. I have Big Yellow pollen. May have too much suav in it for you though. It is orangey at times.

Barb, that one is a Carmela X Rubiline seedling. I'm glad you are having NO trouble rooting your new one.
