Ecuador Pink

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's one of the more common Brugs but it will always have a place in my garden.
The flower starts out white, turns light pink and then darker pink. The picture shows the color differences.

The three faces of EP! Beautiful Terry, Joelle

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I have to say that this one isn't a favorite of mine and I can't really tell you why. Last year she bloomed very well for me and she is pretty, just not one that I have to have, anymore. She either went home with Phil or Kyle, so if I want to start her again, she is close by. It sure would be nice to have blooms in a big greenhouse right now. Having to start most of my brugs over each year gets old. What others do you have in bloom, Terry? I'm chomping at the bit to have blooms again.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Brugie I feel for you, I truly envie the people that can just plant them in the garden all year, we have to do so much work just to have them so we are the true CRAZY ADDICTS :)

Thanks Joelle. Shirley I've got MM, L'Amour, GL, Maya, Butterfly, Dr Suess blooming now or just finishing up.
There's a couple of double seedlings from last year that are ready to open.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh man...I'm so jealous. I have one bud on a new Butterfly cutting. It's going to be a long dry spell here. I'll bet I'd be sitting in that greenhouse morning and night, just to smell that great fragrance.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

I got this one as a cutting last fall, and am anxious to see her bloom. Your image is beautiful, Terry!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

EP will always be a favorite for me.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I still have her too but she only blooms late summer and fall for me. Guess she doesn't like the heat and humidity. Haven't been able to make myself get rid of her

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Me too Ada. She's a different color pink than the other pinks.

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Terry I had EP in and out of the house this winter just no room left in the GH and she had a pod. Anyway she bloomed once while in the house and it was a darker pink then I had ever seen on her. Just beautiful.

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 6b)

I Love EP!

Miss Ya Terry!!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Very pretty picture. I have always liked EP also even though she does not like our heat and like Donna, I get the most blooms in the fall. I have it in the ground and it comes back each year.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Oh wow, Terry! Soooo pretty!

Anyone know a good site that gives a well-rounded into to Brugs? I've never grown any but am amazed at the beauty of these plants.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Sure, this one!! LOL. Just look back at different threads at the titles or do searches in the brug forum for different topics. Also you can look in Plant Files up top for tons of pictures of different ones. Enjoy!! I think we cover every topic known to brugs!!

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Thank you :) I wonder how a brug would deal with very dry heat we get here in Oregon? Avg highs are in the 80's with lows in the upper 50's, but humidity levels avg about 25%.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I'm happy others like EP as much as I do. It's also a good pollen donor and a good pod parent.
Emily we have several knowledgable growers right here on the forum including Monika Gottschalk who is an expert on growing and hybridizing and has written a book on Brugs.
If you have any questions I'm sure someone will be happy to answer them.
Are you thinking of trying one? Or two or three? LOL
Like someone said on another thread, they're like chips, you can't have just one.

Well Emily, I would say the temp of 80s is not too high. Some here have temps in the 100s. Where I live it is usually in the 70s and goes to 40s and 50s at night. We do have more humidity but it does not feel like we do (thank God). I keep mine in full sun but I know in hotter climates some find it best to keep them in shade at least in the afternoon.

If I were you I would get a few and put them in pots. You can move them around your yard and see where they like it. They are heavy feeders and drinkers in the summer, so put them in big enough pots so they do not dry out quickly. I bet they would do fine. Some are pretty hardy and very aggressive.

Let us know how you do!!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Emily Brugs will do fine in your climate. We don't have the humidity up here as they do in the southern states and our temps in the summer average 75-85 with some days in the 90's. (Feels like 120 when that happens.) LOL
I found that planting them in the ground helps keep the roots cooler and you don't have to water as often. Black pots above the ground absorb the suns heat and they dry out much quicker.
You can try different ways and see what works best for you.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Next question. What's a good online nursery to get one from? I've never seen any brugs for sale at my local nursery, although they seem to carry just about everything else. I think I'd want to grow one in a pot as it seems most are not hardy to my zone. The angel's trumpet variety looks so beautiful and irresistable.

Emilyrasmus, I can get you started on a couple of Brugs. If your interested I can mail you a couple to start you off. I just hate getting people hooked on brugs though....LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)
