Hello from Oregon

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Guess I never saw the Welcome mat before.
I need to introduce myself then.
I am from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, where all kinds of good things grow.
I love dahlias so would love to trade (SASE) these though I don't dig up my dahlias, I just leave them in the ground and they do wonderful. Many are coming back now!
I really like color, so love all kinds of flowers in my yard. Any type of color year round.
I just moved into a new house a little over a year ago, which had only 3 ugly plants and a small patch of lawn and horrible clay soil.
Now have planted the back lawn with grass seed and have multiple plants and flowers in both the front and back yard. With good soil and mint compost.
I love spending time out in the yard, just puttering around.
So am looking forward to being a DG member.

Hi Carol. Welcome from an Iowa gardener who loves color too. You can tell by my name that I love Brugmansia, but I also like roses, hibiscus, just tropicals of all kinds, and now coleus, along with about anything that blooms. I guess that just about covers anything that grows. LOL! I have never had good luck growing dahlias, but from time to time, I do give them another try. I've always wanted to grow the dinner plates to the size I see in pictures, but all that pinching needed, doesn't get done with all the other things I have to do. Maybe one day I'll be able to get my priorities straight...but that is a big maybe. Here is a picture of part of my jungle a couple of years ago. I'm getting things thinned out a bit now and am going back to more perennials. I'd love to see pictures of your dahlias some time. Hope you enjoy your time here at Daves. It's an awesome place and the members are the best.
