A Newbie Here

Forsyth, GA(Zone 7b)

Attended the Spring GARU at Dausett Trails today and got my first brugmansias. Am very enthused about them and hope I can grow them as well as my other plants.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Welcome to the Brug Forum. If you ever ask for advice and I try to give it, remind me that I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm too new at growing them. lol lol

You will find the people here very nice and helpful so if you have any questions, just ask and someone other than me will advise you.

Rik sure was nice meeting you today. Didn't get a chance to talk much but maybe next time. Did you see the brug Delisa brought me?

Meant to say that it will become an addiction if you let it. And if you have one that is the start of an addiction. Next you will want two and it never ends. LOL
A nice addiction I might add.

Welcome to the Brug Forum Rik. :-)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Welcome Rik. You will have to tell us about the brugs you are starting out with. They are like eating potato chips. You won't stop with just one.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL Shirley! She's right Rik, you can't stop at one lol!

Welcome to the Brugmansia forum where you'll find a wealth of knowlege and lots of great new friends. :)

Welcome in Rik and I'd say congratulations but condolences are probably more appropriate. :)

These brugs, they make you ... do things. My path to addiction was only slightly different - first I wandered into this forum last Nov wondering what all the excitement was. Soon thereafter, six little sticks were in my basement and it hasn't stopped.

So, what did you get today? Hmmmmm

Welcome Rik. I ditto all the above. There's no such thing as just a few Brugs. Before summers end your yard will be full of them. LOL

Welcome Rik, Boy, you are in trouble now. Like most of us on the forum, I started out with one or two and now besides the 20 plus that I have planted around the yard, I have approx. 60 seedlings growing in pots. I don't have a clue what I am going to do with them all.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Welcome Rik ... lets see how many he has come fall.

Hi. I'm Dogzilla and I'm now addicted to Brugmansias.

:: pauses and waits for the obligatory, 'HI DOGZILLA!' ::

I bought one last year and it nearly died from whiteflys, which had infested and killed lots of things I didn't expect. (Stupid hibiscus brought them on...)

Anyway, I just got my very first blooms (peach!). A friend gave me a second plant, and I haven't a clue what color that one will turn out to be.

Will post pix in a couple days... But I can EASILY see how addicting these things are... like orchids.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

consider yourself obliged Dogzilla! :)

I get my 2nd flower experience tonight, albeit in the basement. The first a few weeks ago was kind of ho-hum due to all the build up I had. It was just white and no amazing fragrance but being cool indoors I guess it was to be expected. Maybe 'Harlot' will surprise me.

Welcome and the more the merrier....

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

No, no no! Don't tell me "...like orchids." I just got 2 at the GARU.

Quoting:

that sure was a short pause
hi Dogzilla

Tallahassee, FL(Zone 8b)

Wait a minute... these things are supposed to be aromatic?

Uh-oh. Next thing you're gonna tell me the hummers or flutterbys love it... or there's some medicinal value to brugs...

:: Adds this to my ever-growing list of addictions ::

So, when does the support group meet? ;>)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hi. Welcome to the brug forum. I hope we will see you here often.
