Snails eating holes in the brug leaves, I know it's snails, their leaving behind a slimey trail, what to do about them.
spider mites, can't kill them with merit, 7 dust, malathion spray. I don't want to buy the avid stuff, so any other ideas, I've been washing them down with the hose and rubbing them off. we'll see if that works. their dropping leaves like crazy becuase of the mites. they were on the tequila sunrise that I said looked rootbound. thinking it was spider mites instead of being rootbound, I did rinse off the dirt and cut away some of the roots and repotted it and the saveloens yellow/gold brug, they both got spider mites too.
I know we've talked about this, but I 'm definitely not gong out to buy the avid spray for mites. and the merit isn't workin gon the mites which I knew already. but I thought the malathion spray would.
I just sprayed them down with the hose. one was over 6 foot tall and I couldn't get to that, without a ladder that I didn't have at the moment.
we're suppose to have 35 degrees tonight and tomorrow night of all things to have to worry about , so I've brought in some of the brugs I had outside. I thought for sure the bad weather was gone. go figure. LOL
couple of questions on pests
I had 6 Brug potted cuttings with spider mites, after long research and thought, reading labels on poisons at several places and reading everything I could find both here and on the Internet, I opted for SIMPLE which just happened to be CHEAP. My thinking was if it didn't work I'd try something else, hopefully no harm would be done. (Also by this time I was ready to throw them all out the backdoor)
Someone had posted on this forum (kareoke, I believe) that they used Raid, Home & Garden and on the label it said for use on Spider Mites. The can cost about $4, I got it at Lowe's and it worked.
However I did lose one of the cuttings and most of their leaves, but i saved 5 cutting and they've grown new leaves!! This was approximately 4 weeks ago and there are no signs of spider mites as of now.
My advice would be to try it on a single small plant and judge for yourself.

now that's cheap enough LOL. I loose leaves alot when I have spider mites, so I don't think I could loose any more by spraying it with something LOL the plant is almost leafless now, and it's a 2 year old plant LOL. it's really boney, LOL due to transplant and root cutting, and spider mites. it will come around though. Imight try that raid though thanks
... forgot to mention its a systemic so you don't have to be so careful about getting under, over each leaf, etc. It's also in a aerosol can which makes using it very easy ... no pumping, no hose, no mixing.... pop the top, shake and spray away.
I've never used any of their products before but after this experience Raid will be my first choice for any insect problem.

Judy that does so good. i'll remember that to..
