I am planning on putting up a greenhouse and need to get info on where I can purchase greenhouse film. I have no clue on where to purchase this special plastic. What would be the best thickness and durability due to the sun exposure.Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Any suggestions will be welcome from all who are interested in sharing your knowledge.

plastic greenhouse film
i usually end up buying 6ml plastic and recovering every year.
I also buy 6 mil plastic and recover every year. You can get 5 year plastic, but it costs 5X the 6 mil and with the 6 mil our greenhouse is "naturally" air conditioned in the summer, which really helps since we don't want to put in a cooling system and we live in sunny Florida. It also helps keep the electris bills down since we aren't running water pumps for a cooler or running vent fans as near as much. I do recommend some sort of screening around it to keep out birds and such which like to inhabit the greenhouse. It also slows down the higher winds to prevent plants from being blown over.

I just bought the 6ml stuff at home depot and it was about 25 bucks for a huge roll...

I get mine from Charley's Greenhouse
Supply. It has UV protection made for greenhouse, also has a 5 year
warranty. Mine lasted 6 years, will
re-cover this fall. I find the 6ml
stuff tears & cracks to easy, what a
mess to clean up!!

Honeybee,
I live in Biloxi..where is Charleys Greenhouse Supply.

I get mine from Nolt's Produce Supply In PA (no website, they are Amish). I didn't realize places like Home Depot carried greenhouse film. I have bought 6 mil plastic at Lowes but it lasted about 4 months before desintegrating because it wasn't UV stabile and cost about $25 for a 100' roll. SDoglover if that is what you are using think about getting real greenhouse film. The real stuff cost about 3X more but is well worth the cost.
For those of you who buy the cheap stuff remember the ploastic is not recyclable so it goes to the landfill each year and you have to reapply it year after year which takes a bit of time. In the long run the UV stabil film is cheaper as you don't have to pay the trash people 5 times to landfill it or your time to reapply it. Think about it-UV fil cost 3 to 5X 6 mil plastic and last 4 to 7 times longer which makes it cheaper in the long run. Do the math.
