Butterfly bushes, Zone 6b?

Windsor, Ontario, ON(Zone 6b)

I have a butterfly bush in my new backyard (we just moved in last week) and so far there isn't the faintest sign of life. Not a bud, nothing but some leftover wispiness from last year. I'm a bit worried that it's died.

Does anyone else in my zone have signs of life yet?

Thanks,

Kris

I am in 4b, and what I do is try to snap off the tip of a twig. If it snaps easily and is brown inside, try a little further down. If it is green and pliable, it probably just needs more time. Some plants die all the way back to the roots, but get new growth from them every year. Not sure about butterfly bushes, though... I am dying to try one but in Zone 4b I have a feeling it would be an annual!

You should be safe in Zone 6 unless you had a particularly cold winter or not much snow.

That makes sense, a lot of things did die down to the roots, so I'll give that a try, thanks.

Take care,

Kris
