Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

That is so pretty, well worth the wait! Write that down..........how you got it to bloom.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I don't know how I got it to bloom........

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I think it was just a little "hard-wire programming" on the BoP's part. A lot of people have trouble with them, though, so you must be doing something right! I would bet a lot of blooming issues relate to either young plants, not enough sun, or maybe northern climates just aren't brutally hot enough for them. We have that covered here in Houston - we specialize in brutal heat. Mine are blooming now, too (or just about to, anyhow). It should be blooming for you for most of the rest of the year. Are there any other bloom spikes coming up? Depending on the size of the plant, they can sneak up on you (or at least me, which is funny considering how slowly these things grow! lol!). Just beautiful, aren't they??

What I've read is full sun will give more flowers, but more scraggly growth, full shade with give nicer foliage, but less flowers. I would say (guessing) somewhere around 75% sun would be ideal for decent foliage and nice blooms. (ok, so, you didn't ask for help in growing it, I just rattled for a second).

Lucky girl CC, it's beautiful.
Mine went to the compost this year because it hasn't bloomed in a few years. I guess we don't get "brutally" hot enough.
