I finally found the secret to getting hoyas to bloom:
TREAT THEM ROUGH - don't be nice to them! Beat them up!
It's true that there IS a blooming time, and it is also true that they will bloom when stressed (their instinct of survival)...and, my recent experience shows this all to be true!
I have a large H. purpureo fusca, growing like a trooper, but it hasn't bloomed for me yet. I had a NOID I didn't know if it was H. pf or H. cinnamomifolia...so I planted it outside on the new road. It took full morning sun, lived thru the drought with very little water and didn't grow much...yesterday I found it 2' long with 2 blooms!
Today I am moving my "happy camper H. purpureo fusca" out into more sun, less water and I will yell at it occasionally and call it bad names. Think it'll work?
