Colocasia Esculenta

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I like the EE's, but I stay clear of the basic green ones. I like the unusual. Last year I received some Nancy's Revenge, I have some Black Magic, a couple different alocasias and today I picked this up at a nursery out west. I got a reduced price on it since it wasn't very tall.

But looky at all the pups down in there. I talked a good deal, but I got the best deal.

Not too much in the Plant Files on this though. When it grows up a little, I will put a picture over there. I put this back in the shadiest corner of my yard, still in the pot. I will move it around to find the best place for it. Anyone else have one of these? What's your experience? Have pictures of grownups?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhh, I love it! If you ever want to trade one of those pups, please let me know. I love the unusual, too.

Molly,
it's actually alocasia macrorrhizza variegata.needs partial sun to stay variegated.warm, moist, not wet..and feed with a balanced fertilizer once a month. This is what it will look like later on..

Eclipse,

I am confused now. I came home today from the nursery, looked into the plant files under elephant ears. Looked for the picture that looks like mine and came up with this: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/96282/index.html

So I go and look in the plant files for yours and don't find that one.

Just when I was being a smarty pants, thinking I did the research and found it so quickly. Whats the answer to this dilemma?

Thanks,
Molly

Eclipse,

It's weird, now tonight I see the picture of the plant, in the plant files.

I seem to have so much trouble finding things these days.

Thanks for your help. I will be sure to give it some sun, I don't want to lose the white on the leaves.

Sigh~ I'd love one of these. I have Googled until my eyes have crossed but can't find a seller up here. I just love the variegation. You're a lucky girl and to have gotten a deal on it is well.

LOL.......well your answer Liz just saved me from sending you an email! ;)

Molly,

May I put my name on the list for a pup, please, for when you start sharing next year? ; - >
