my waterfall

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

This is my waterfall. It was created with a ton and a half of Arizona river rock.

A ton and half? Mercy............... I think my daughter better see yours. For what she would like it would take all of AZ...

The rocks are in a huge pile and go out quite a ways so that they look natural.

Those are some fine looking rocks you got there! And some pretty plants and water, too! Thanks for posting these pictures. I just love looking at what other people have done.

Great looking fall, and the vegetation really compliments it. Someday we will have one of our own!!!!... Tom

The elephant ears you sent me are already starting to grow! I'd like to plant some in the waterfall/stream area of the pond (when it's finished - hopefully sometime soon!). Did you plant yours in soil pockets or just let them get the nutrients from the water?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Both. I have them planted in pots in the pond. However, over time they have dont their own thing. They keep showing up in the rocks in the waterfall.

VERY nice!

I agree the vegetation really sets it off.

Is that a ginger behind and to the right?

Oh, so they must really like it there! I'll see what happens up here!

I have ginger in and around the pond. Does great in both places.

Ginger 'IN' the pond......... hmmmmmmm.............what type?

Do you have any shots?
That's an option I've never thought of....

Just your common white butterfly ginger. Here is a picture of it blooming in my pond.

That is beautiful! Is that a Zebrina/Rojo too? You always have such neat plants and scenery!

In the background? Yea, I use the banana trees as a backdrop to my pond. Looks good.

We put our Taro in our pond and love it. Just to let you know, we had some in our upper waterfall, cause we love the look, BUT it got out of control. We have bags of Lava rock as our filter in the bottom of the waterfall- the Taro grew into the Lava rock, and it was a MESS. We finally took all of the rocks out, washed it off, and eventually had to replace the rocks to get rid of it. We let the taro remain around the falls, but not IN it.

The Taro did get HUGE when growing IN the water, as opposed to outside, in the dirt. The leaves must have been 2-3 ft long, each, but in the dirt only get 1.5 ft.

IMHO

We grow almost all our Colocasia in water also.
Here though it's not hardy so no problems w/ it invading.

I'm going to give the Ginger a shot.

Do you have a full pond shot?
