How do I root a green "cutting?"

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I have a nice brug that had two leafy 24 inch stems coming out of the soil. The bottoms are woody, and the newer growth on top is green. Had a kitty accident this afternoon, and a large potted plant got knocked down on top of the brug, and chopped off (rather cleanly, I must admit) one of the two growing tips. I have the piece, my "cutting" LoL, which is about 3 inches long. Can I root it? How? I've read green is harder to root than wood, is this true? Thanks for any advice!

I have had this happen myself, I stick them in a pot of soil (usually a Pot i have a brug already in, then I forget what it is when it roots LOL) some times they will root some times they will rot i just let nature take it's course. keep the dirt moist not soaking wet. Good luck!

My experience is that greenwood is just as easy as hardwood to root, the way I have been doing it. Lay the cutting horizontally on top of moistened soil, lightly pressed in. Place container in a zipper bag and close tightly. Put it in a place where it will get filtered sunlight, or morniing exposure, and not get too hot, and you should get it to root. This time of year its easy to get things to root. Good luck!
