Looked this morning and my Kennebec 'taters are starting to come up, been in the ground 2 weeks. Can't wait for those new 'taters!

I found two sprouted potatoes in the cupboard and stuck them in a huge container outside--that's the extent of my potato planting for this year! : )

I'm having a terrible time with potato beatles this year. I have been spraying but every time I spray, it rains and washes it all off. :o(
Does not matter, if you are using Sevin. I t biodegrades so fast that it has to hit the bugs or thier eggs. Main thing is to use the IPM method and kill the adults and eggs whenever they appear.

What is the IPM method?
Integrated Pest Management. In a nutshell, you monitor your plants and use a pesticide only when the population reaches a threatening level. You don't use a pesticide as preventative measure, Sevin is useless for that anyway,because of its short life span. They usually come in swarms, and when they do you take them down without using excessive insecticide.
