I just discovered the passion of gardening and I'm really "digging in!" I joined this site hoping to gain the knowledge I need to get started and keep going. I am hoping to grow a lush flower garden, maybe some vegetables when I get more confidence. I'd like to meet others in Zone 9 (but am I 9a or 9b??) for success tips. Thanks for being here! ~Rachael
Edited to change zones.

Hello from a brand-new gardener in N. California
Rachael welcome to the joy of gardening. I have a grandson living in the Browns Valley area east of Yuba city. He is doing quite well with ground never before cultivated. I am sure you will be able to grow almost anything you want as you get the hang of it. If you have a problem, it is probably one many of us have had and we will be glad to share our experience. Al
rachael - hello from upstate new york. you will love this place and vegetables are easy. just ask whatever you want and someone will know the answer.
Hi Rachael. I hope you are finding your way around the garden. Wish I had your zone to deal with. Would be going crazy about now. LOL! Enjoy Daves. It's a great place for lots of reasons.
Thanks all! Glad to be here! ~Rachael
Hi Rachael. I'm pretty new to gardening too, but I've always had better luck with veggies than with flowers. Maybe because the payoff is so yummy! :) Good luck with your gardening adventures. I hope you'll keep us posted.
BTW, I used to live in Panama City, FL, and I know that gardening is different in a warmer climate. Plus I had all that sand to deal with!
Best of luck to you!
Welcome Rachael from Stockton CA! Hope you enjoy your time here. Our wonderful Dave has given us a California Forum so if you have not checked it out yet, head over & meet more of your "neighbors"! :~)

Thanks, Angie! I will be trying Swiss Chard in my flower garden as my veggie starter. Donna, hope to see you in the CA forum soon!
