Beautiful, the layered petals are very interesting. Is this from your garden?

It is from my garden. Josephine is a very nice cultivar. It is perfect for patios and pots and smaller spaces as it only gets about 8 feet tall, it's has a lot of flowers and it blooms for a long period. Mine isn't very established, but I've seen them when they are and it's a beautiful sight. I made the mistake of trying to grow it from a tuber, and I only buy clematis that have woody stems now. It took several years to get to this place. The flower isn't as big as the large flowered kind. It's only about 4 inches across but it makes up for it in substance.

I had no idea tubers would take that long. I guess it's still better than seed.

Clematis are very slow starting, but very long lived. I buy my Clematis at Chalk Hill Nursery now. They do a great job, and a Niobe that I put in last fall is already blooming this spring. If you're patient and money's tight though, you should start your Clematis tuber in a pot.

I think I'm going to do that. My mom bought me four yesterday. I'm always so anxious to see flowers asap. I have little patience!

Enjoy! I know that they will add a lot to your garden. And what a nice Mom!

lol

Being a Mom - I know that no matter what Mom's do - We drive our daughters crazy.

On the other hand, daughters can have their problems. Being a daughter, I know that too.

The only thing that we can do is to try the best we can, and as my mother says, love each other anyway. And as DH says, everyone's difficult. :-)

I don't know why it's harder when it's your mom.

Well, to be fair, us daughter drive our mothers crazy too!

:-) Indeed we do.
