Redbud (Cercis canadensis)

I just picked one of these up from (gasp) Home Depot. It looks good and healthy, but it hasn't even started to bud yet. Has anyone else been having a late bloom with these this year? Also, I am not sure what variety it is, any clues on how to tell in it's dormant stage?

Hi Nick,

I bought one of those Redbuds at Home Depot also and gave it to my friend. It has not leafed out yet. I bought a Redbud last year at Sam's club and so far it hasn't budded out yet but I'm pretty sure it's alive. Should be soon with the warmer temps. I used to have a large one years ago but hubby killed it with weed b gone. :(
