SO STRANGE! My previous house had this! One day by the patio under an oak tree area, I noticed this 'thing' starting to come up from the ground. This phalic looking long thing with white dots on it. And each day it would grow bigger and bigger, until you could finallly see it start to open up at the tip a litttle bit and see some green. And then till finally grwoing tallish withe the leaves all the w ay open. But I NEVER could find out what this was or WHY it was planted in the yard. I knew It was something special, I mean wasn't a weed or anything. Anyone I'd ask, or they'd ask, '[what is that' I had no response. But It never did that 'bloom' thing in the other pictures. WHEN, does that happen? And is this really a rare plant? I might just have to go back to that house and dig it up! LOL SO elated to finally put a name on my mystery plant!!!!

Liberty, MO(Zone 6a)

I'm new to this site and looking for others who enjoy talking about this Lily. I have one over ten years old and has bloomed twice in the last three years.

Lakeland, FL

I got one from my Aunt last year, cut it back for the winter, and a large, 'intersting' bloom occured where I thought the plant was going to grow back up. If I survive (lol) the 'stink,' will the palm still come up? or do I have to dig up the palm and start with anohter one?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I was informed that this plant will survive being outdoor in zone 7 and colder zones. I purchased one last year it was about four feet tall. I left it out door, if it comes back this spring I'll let you know. You're welcome to e-mail me. (I live in zone 7b-- where the temp. sometimes drops down to the teens, but mostly 20-30 dregree F. during the winter)

Ocala, FL

I too, did not plant this, and have been going crazy trying to find out what it was. My local mastergardener had to inquire also, but she did come through for me. It has only been in my yard for a few months and already a new shoot sprouted & w/in a week and it has already opened with leaves. Where could it have come from?? If it is so exotic and from other countries, how did we get it here. I'm in FL and know of no one that has one or knows of it. Anything you can share would be helpful. My variety of the Voodoo Lily seems to have especially curly leaves.
