With Dave replacing some of the forum banners should we make a request for ours. Any ideas? Maple leaves in the fall on the ground...

Whatever we pick, it should be something that's seen in most parts of the country, like maple leaves and ducks. Just out of curiosity, Rosemary, are there deciduous trees in Precipice Valley? I'd guess that if there are, they would be birch or something like that - ?

There are lots of lovely poplars up in the Chilcotin area. They turn a beautiful golden yellow rather than red.

Guess you grow Watsonia, Agapantus, disa, sprkia, diarama, many other So. African bulbs in your gardens year round. Lucky ducks, Pl;us of course, all the wonderful iris farms you have there.

Yes, we do have some advantages down here, but I miss the greenery of the North a lot.
I went to Vancouver, BC, more than once when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wa, eons ago. I loved it up there.

I like the maple leaf idea but what are the banners all about? Haven't heard of them before.
Shannon--yes, deciduous trees here but only the occasional birch and they're the black mountain type. They prefer growing near water and so the beavers usually wipe them out. We have huge cottonwoods, aspens, alders. No maples, not even vine. And I found one mountain ash! Must have been a bird drop.
I'm not sure how this came about either - but California Trading has a new look, and some other forums too, apparently.

I've switched to the other thread, but please can someone tell me what this is about, re "banners"??? What are banners? Is this something Dave changes annually?
The banner is the colored background behind the wording "Dave's Garden" and "For Gardeners by Gardeners". In a few forums Dave has changed the flower pictured above to another one.
