Maya putting on white sport

Mc Call Creek, MS

My Maya, which is just coming up from her long winters nap has a white sport. It's really pretty, but I know it would never survive if I ever sever it from Mom. I'm going to leave it just to see what it does.

I think I've read about a few others who have had these. Anyone have any experience with one?
Kay

Kay is yours in the ground. I lost mine again but luckily had a back up that I replanted. This is twice I have planted in the ground and they didn't come back.

The albino sport's only source of nutrition is through the mother plant. Without her it cannot survive ;'(

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

You have to leave it on the plant. scooterbugs mentioned already why.
It may even flower for you. Mine did.

Monika, were the flowers the same as the others? Did the lack of chlorophyl affect the color of the flowers? I suppose the flowers also get their nourishment from the mother part of the plant?

Donna, she is in the ground. I mulched her heavily with pinestraw. This is two winters she has made it through that way. I wonder if all that flooding you had might have done yours in. If you need another one, let me know.
