Strange flower

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

This Butterfly flower came out with an extra growth extending out of the calyx.
Flowers can do some strange things this time of year.

Wow, a double in progress? Wouldn't that be nice..........

LOL Terry! It was so eager to bloom after the winter it just out-did itself!

Looks like close to a twofer to me - almost a twin blossoms. Is there such a thing, two blossoms from one calyx?

Sherry, that's what I was gonna say. Looks like it tried to be either a twin flower or a double that formed the skirts separately instead of one inside the other. Your right, Terry, with brugs, this time of year (and cool fall temps for me) can do some funky things with brugs! My experience is that suavs seem more prone to abnormal flowers, but you never know.
