Look what happened..

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

This is a tecoma stans..or esperanza shrub seedling..little over a month old and about 8 inches high.Guess what?? It bloomed at this age and height......never heard of them doing this this small. The color carried over from the parent plant. In fact the color is actually deeper than the parent plant. Will see what happens with its siblings.. they are normally yellow.

That is really pretty, Eclipse! Did you grow them from seeds?

Very cool. I bought an orange one a month or so ago, but it hasn't bloomed yet. I love orange flowers - my favorite color.

Kyle, if you used the seed on the plants you got from me, maybe the two plants crossed. Remember, I had both kinds, yellow and orange. I love the orange color. Could be it was just seed from the orange plant.

It's so cute!

kyle...you got the magic touch! thats all i can say. I have been thinking about you, I have about 6 hibiscus plants, they grow like crazy here, and was remembering all the lovely hibiscus you had.
how is your egyptian room coming along? you must have it finished by now.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Pebble,
the egyptian room is all but finished...I posted pics on the home decorating forum a while back. Glad to hear something grows well for you there. :-)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

thanks. Just wish I had things at my disposal that I had in the States, it makes gardening challenging here.....I guess it's just a matter of learning new things.
I'll pop into the decorating forum and see how you made out with your Egyptian room

Kyle, I have one labeled Taco ma Stans, and it looks just like yours, with yellow flowers; then I got another one and it is also labeled tacoma stans, but the leaves are much smaller and the flower is more of a tube, like a honeysuckle; I do not know what is going on, but the smaller flower is very much like the other one, even the smell of the leaves and flower. The smaller flowered one is really big in a big pot, so it is not like I thought at first, that it just had to get older. What do you think?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Roz if its from seed its probably just seedling variation.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

That's probably what it is; I bought it in a big pot, and I bet it was grown from seeds. Came from the Botanical Garden sale in New Orleans, and they grow lots of stuff from seeds.

Thanks!

Roz post a pic if you can. Sounds pretty!
