CLOSED: Have: Japanese Fantail Willow

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have enough of these for 4-5 people depending on how many rooted cuttings each person wants. Plant info and pics: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/81853/index.html

I would like to trade them for other unusual or different type plants or other twisted or contorted type plants. Maybe you will come up with something I didn't know I wanted. :) I'd also be interested in variegated leaf, red twig-dog wood or even rooted Hydrangea. I'm sure there are other things I am not thinking of.

To be honest, I have no intention of mailing these out until the first of May. I have a bunch to do for the first local DG get together! Yay!!

markleysburg, PA(Zone 5a)

I can get you some red twig dogwood cuttings but they are not rooted Shirley

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Wanna a small twisted Sassafras Tree? The base of it is twited out and some of it's branches cuz my trailer does not have underpinning and it started growing a few years back under the edge of the trailer and I just never have taken the time to dig it out , but it gonna come out this year for sure.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

would love one will trade for newer named louisiansa iris .

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi! I don't really have anything you're interested in, I don't think. Would you consider sending one for postage? They look really neat. I gather they grow kind of curly-like? I love unusual stuff. If you want to trade-only that's okay too. :)

Hi Jenn,

I did look at your list and I would trade for the Giant Aloe if you still have it. Let me know.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey woman! I have a few rooted Corkscrew Willow. Rooted them for the roundup but no takers so far!

Wanna trade?

If not no biggy - I shouldn't be trading anyway. I will be moving eventually!

Nicole

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Nicole!

Of course I will trade with you if it gets you in trouble! That will be like a bonus! LOL You can always grow them in larger pots and take them with you. Let me know how many you want.

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Oh, yes I do! I have a really nice baby; it's about 6 or 8 inches high now. My mamma plant is about 3 feet high. It's been living on its own for about a year now (the baby). I would be happy to send it to you for one of yours! :) (Kinda forgot I had it on the trade list) Weather-wise, what do you think about sending now? I'm sure yours will be fine since it's hardy but an aloe is a wee bit more tender.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Why don't you hang on to it until the first of May when I am sure temps will be good. I really want to wait until then to mail these out. There is a Cincinnati get together on the 23rd and I want to get all the plants together for that first. Then I will send these out. :)

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Sure, that sounds good. Would you mind dropping me an email then (So I don't forget...mind like a seive and all that). The PF pics are mostly of close-ups. Do these grow curly-like, almost like a corkscrew willow? I'm just curious, want it anyhow, just planning on where to put it, how it'll look, etc. Thanks again for trading! This will be a nice addition to my yard.

I will take a bigger picture from a distance. My yard is/was a mess and my neighbor was working on some things so I just took the pics I needed when I realized there were none in the PF. I believe it can grow to 15 feet tall and wide. You can prune it back but you don't want to go crazy because it is the older branches that get the most flat and curly/contorted. It has very open, lose growth. It is nice even when the leaves come in because they are a very bright, nearly lime colored green.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

One is plenty! It will be in a pot for sure!! Cool!! I can baby it until I get my new yard!!!! I am going to have a TON of stuff to water this summer!!!!

How many corkscrew willows do you want? I know I have 3 that are in dirt now and a few others still in rooting gel.

Let me know!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll send you 2-3 just in case there is a tragedy. You can pot them together or seperately then you have back ups. :)

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Sounds great. I'm looking forward to having one in my yard. Thanks for the info and if you have time to grab a pic I would enjoy it. But if you don't that's okay, too. ;) Keep in touch and thanks again.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I will get mine up and going this weekend to you Michele.. This are one of the FIRST ever things I have rooted! Hope they do well - course I've heard Corkscrew Willows will root if you stare at them hard enough so surely...

:)

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks guys, now you have me on this contorted plant trip! Now, how does the corkscrew willow differ from the fantail? I'm thinking I'd like to have one of each if they're different, though if they're similar then maybe not...

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I think we have forever broken another gardener.

Corkscrew willow sort of grows like finger curls. I bet if you look in the PF you will find pics. If not, we can get those too. LOL

Nicole, I think any of the willows will root in water. I started to worry about the the fantails then after about a week I pulled some out of the water to look and the whole length that was submerged, was covered with roots. I have also heard if you dump that water on other cuttings that they will root faster.

There is no hurry to mail me anything. I am sitting here, afraid to open a box containing 24 daylilies. LOL I still have 3 more co-ops coming. OH MY NO! LOL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

hee hee! Maybe I will wait a couple of weeks and let them get better established then. They are in good shape but just put them outside on the porch this week. Don't rush on mine either. Between the round up and Spring I am a bit busy myself!! Plant your stuff! I will get it out before it gets hot for sure though.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Badseed I will trade you for a Musa Basjoo (Hardy Bannana)

Doris

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks a bunch Doris! It will be nice to trade with you again. :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I think I will put a cap on this for now. I want to make sure I have enough rooted for the RU and the people above. I can always root more later if someone wants them.

THANKS!!

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Doris, do you have any extra hardy bananas? Do you grow yours outside? Your zone is my zone so if you grow yours out all year long maybe I could, too. I'm not sure what I would have to trade you tho'. I have a dwarf banana (not hardy) I could trade. And a bunch of other stuff lying around (LOL). If you don't want to/can't that's okay too. :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I just want to touch base with everyone and let you know I am waiting for a monster load of boxes from the post office then I'll be sending these out. I had run out of long triangle boxes. Whoops.

The local get together was a blast!! I'll have time to catch up with everyone here soon. :)

Orangeville, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey Michele! The nights are still a little nippy here so I'm keeping an eye on the forcast till the lows are in the fifties. I'm afraid 40's might be bad! (aloe trade)

Jenn

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi Jenn, I'ts no big deal. Whenever things work out will be fine! I am waiting on boxes anyway and have several IOU's to take care of. LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hello! It's me. :) My boxes are here!! I just e'd everyone to make sure we are still good (Except you, Doris. LOL You have to take them now. hahaha).

If you are not in the addy exchange, please send me your addy.
