Hi bulb fanciers
--I would like to know who has a really good little blue bulb flower to combine with daffodils??? Any pictures to show us of your 'baby blues' please? ....
This year I am trying:
muscari 'blue magic' (pretty good)
muscari armeniacum (looks too puny)
muscari fantasy creation (no show so far)
muscari arm. 'cantab' (ok but blue magic is better)
muscari plumosum (no show so far)
also
anemone blanda 'blue shades' (only a few blooming out of a hundred planted), a few scilla (still hope for these) and 'petro...' something or other (very bland looking)...
I have not been able to 'partner' my daffodils with a reliable little blue flower---bloom times seem off, vigor is weak, or they haven't come up (I thought animals didn't like muscari?)...
What do you have blooming with your daffs that you would recommend? If not a bulb, then what? We are zone 6a and there is only creeping phlox blooming in the perennial category that I know of....
Thanks for any ideas or suggestions--would love to see pics, too... Happy gardening...t.

muscari/grape hyacinth/little blue bulb bloom?
You put any protection over them for winter? Specially since the Muscari is not planted all that deep, it needs some help. Muscari Armeniacum is fine as long as you have at least size 8-9 cm, but better is size 9-10cm.
just googled and found this interesting article from Broadliegh Gardens about little blue bulbs to companion plant with daffs... http://www.broadleighbulbs.co.uk/months/bluebulbs.htm
