I am pathetic, I know, but I have tried this one from seeds for the last three years, and nothing LOL
I dream about this one...I love the colors and the fact that it climbs/ trails.
Does anyone have it for trade in any form? I have different dahlia bulbs available, and other things too. Can even do postage. I'm desperate now.
Please? .........LOL
Thank you in advance, Jackie
CLOSED: Looking for Mina Lobata (Spanish Flag)
LOL! I started some from seed last year and they didn't do anything either. Hope you find one.
Thanks! I feel much better now! LOL
If you guys have had problems, then maybe it's not just me ..... but I have to confess, I'm getting a Mina Complex.
Jax
I have Mina Revelation. I started about 20 of them for my trial gardens. Stil have some left. Have them in 3" pots all started from seed using the baggy and 80 degree temp constant for several days til germination.
Don't know if that the same Mina ya looking for or not. I just clipped em back cuz the fools al tangles themselves into one big knot. They starting to get little orange blooms on them now. Have no idea what the flower wil look like when it opens .
LOL
Oooooh, I don't know either Ella, but it sure sounds good.
What might you like? Please send me an email when you have the chance, and tell me what to do.
Thank you so much.
Jackie
Ok, guess the Revelation one of my 2006 culitvars I trialing. I just pinched em back . Give me a week or so to let them regroup and me to get through my finals and I will send ya a couple. Just remind me cuz with finals I go bezerk and paranoid even at my age. I hate tests love learning. : )
Opps hit the wrong button. Since these are new cultivars all I ask is that you let me know how they do in your area so I can add the data to my research.

I'll start the presoak tonight and let you know what happens.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who replied to me.
Or just lucky
i've got several seedlings that are about four inches tall. the young foliage is really beautiful...multicolored....and they are growing like weeds!
Multicolored? Mine are plain green. Are we talking about the same plant?
yes, i'm sure we are talking about the same plant....my seedlings have lovley purple edges on the leaves.
werd, huh?
Yes it is. None of the pictures in the plant files show any purple on the edges. Have you grown them out to bloom or does the purple fade as they mature?
Oh, I wonder Niki, could yours be cup and saucer seedlings? Do cobaea seedlings have the colored edges? I think mine have the purple on the leaves.......
i'm very very diligent about keeping track of what's coming up where...to the point of being anal-retentive because i have so many seedlings ..and i keep a gardening notebook.
there is a chance i was given the wrong seeds...but it says "Mina lobata" on the package...otherwise known as "spanish flag" or "spanish love vine"....
i'm going to go get a battery for my camera today...and take a picture for you guys..maybe yall can tell me if i got jipped? :)
Niki, I'll bet that they are the mina lobata, who knows why the seedlings might look different. LOL
This is a bit of a mystery, ooooh, and it makes it all the more fun!
I checked my cobaea plants, and the purpley color I thought I saw was more of a reflection as the sun was coming up this morning. They appeared shaded.
I doubt your seeds were packaged wrong, and I keep a journal now too after I lost track of seedlings when I first started experimenting with them. Great idea!
yes i've got waaaaaaaaaay to much going on to keep track of it all in my head :)
i've compared pictures of mina seedlings found on the net to mine and it is def. mina lobata. the purple is more prounounced underneath the leaves.....who knows? plants are funny. it could be the generation..it could be the different growing conditions....but regardless the foliage is just beautiful and the seedlings healthy.
Excellent!!
The Mina Revelation doesn't have green leaves either. Mine is more of a what I call a russet and purple type coloring. The blooms are the brightest orange. Pretty cool to look at.
Hellobebe
Are you still looking for spanish flag. I just now got around to planting some seeds and I have 8 babies about 1-2 in tall. Too small to ship
but will save you a couple if you still want them and they survive seedling stage.
Jan...
Jan,
Yes....I would love it. I haven't received any yet.
I'll Davemail you.
Jackie
Ohhh, Jan , they look great!! What a wonderful mommy you are!
Not only are my fingers crossed, but I made my sons cross all of their digits...after all, what could it hurt???
At least I know which ones they are. The others were labeled as Vigna Caracalla and the seeds certainly look like Vigna but the seedlings most certainly do not. It will be interesting to grow them out and see what I got
