I bought a 5th Dimension hibiscus at Home Depot. Can I plant this in the ground like my other hibiscus as long as cover it if we have a frost? I live in Ormond beach, Florida zone 9 not sure if it's a or b(close to Daytona Beach). This is only my 2nd year here, we haven't had a frost yet but I think one or two nights it was in the high 30's. I saw frost blankets at Home Depot and thought I could cover it if we ever had a frost warning. Anyone else had success planting the exotics in the ground in my area?
can I plant this in the ground ?
I don't know what it would hurt, my son lives in Houston and he has Tropical Hibiscus planted and they do great. If the temp is suppose to get very low in the winter then he covers them up. I have read where some DG'er put Christmas tree lights on them in the winter, not only does it help to protect on cold nights but the lights would look neat.
