Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

It must be spring, someone just went up the hill in a convertible with the top down. I didn't think it was quite that warm yet - still in the 40s - but I suppose if you've got it, flaunt it!

We have had beautiful weather for the past week, highs in the upper 40s to lower 60s and mostly sunny, pretty much since Mistymeadows and her DH were here last Wednesday. We had a good visit and Stan and her DH talked dairying. He wants to and Stan thinks he's crazy, but that's farming! There are some snow piles left, but I suspect they will be gone by this evening. I spent some time out Saturday picking up nails and shingles that were left from the roof job last fall. I need to get a magnet out there - most of what's left is in the flower beds, and I'd just as soon not step on a nail when I'm working around them. There are some early tulips in bloom, but I don't have any daffs yet. The clump down on the roadside going into North Clymer are in full bloom, though, so my can blossom any time.

Stan had a cow calve a month early yesterday and the calf was born alive. His lungs weren't fully formed, though and I suspect he died in the night. some times it just happens that way. Stan spent Friday fixing fence and getting some heifers out. Saturday, he and our NY SIL and GS brought their heifers over to join the rest and then went up to Stan's brother's farm to fix the fence there. He'll be fixing fence all day today, too. He has an Extension seminar tomorrow, so he'll probably try to do in one day what should take two.

I plan to get out in the gardens a little. I wonder if Stan has a cow magnet in the barn - that should be strong enough to pick up roofing nails. Guess I'll have to check that out.
