Moving Tulips

(Zone 5b)

I have some tulips that I'd like to move. They've started growing but don't have buds yet. If I move them now will they likely still flower or should I just wait if I want to see flowers this spring?

I'd wait if I were you. Tulips are generally planted in the fall for spring blooming. Of course, since the bulbs have already stored the energy, there is a chance they'd bloom for you this year. Gardening has so many surprises, you just can't always be sure. 8=}

If you move them let me know how it goes. I have daffy bulbs I want to move.

Well, I was wrong about no buds. I saw some this morning so I'll be waiting until the foliage start to wither. If I move a couple to see how they do I'll let you know.

I STRONGLY suggest you wait transplanting Tulips......If you are a gambler, then move the daffodils, but give them plenty of water.

Tulips need ALL the help they can get to survive for next year.

Thanks bleek. I won't bother experimenting then. They're very pretty and I'd rather wait and let them get what they need for next year.
