Angel Trumpet, Angel's Trumpet 'Dr. Seuss'
Brugmansia hybrid

This Brug grows 8' tall with a 6-8' spread. In Dec. I take cuttings to root in my greenhouse. However in our zone 8 it has returned for the last 3 years. So pretty!

Joseph, Did your brug form a "Y" at the top? It should bloom above the Y. If your cutting came from below the Y then it may take it a while to bloom.. If none this year, contact me in Nov. and I'll send you some cuttings. Below is a good web site that has been alot of help to me.
Good luck. ---------Barbara

Barbara,

I have a main plant that I received as a cutting last year. It got to the point of making a classic "Y" but fall arrived in a big way and the plant had to be put away for the winter. I am hoping for big things this year from it, and it is exciting to see other gardeners' plants like yours doing so well!

I saw a container arrangement of Charles Grimaldi bloomin his head off as it were in a gardening magazine 3 years ago, and have been forever captured by this group of plants.

BSD, I live in zone 8A do you think I can grow it in the ground here? I would love to put it in the ground but do not want to lose it over the winter and it is getting to big to get through the door. How do you take cutting and how long are the cutting?
Thank You,
Joan

Hi again Joan,
I keep mine in the ground and it get very big. I think they bloom better in the ground. I take cuttings in late Nov. because I'm always afraid that I'll loose it. So far, it has come back for three years. You take your cuttings above the area where it makes a "Y". They should be about 8" long. I place these in water and within a week there are tiny white nubs ( is that a word?) on the cuttings.. This is where the roots begin. Pot them up and you have a new Brug. Check out that web site on my April 10th post to Joseph.. Hope this will help you.
Barbara

Thank you, Barbara. Knowledge is flower power.
