Narcissus

Thalia is a rapid multiplier as well as being a beautiful narcissus.

Just beautiful! I wish more daffodils would naturalize here. We have very few that do. Some naturalize, but do not bloom well because we just don't have enough cold weather. Really nice photo. Thanks for sharing it.

Hazel, these are very similar to the paperwhite narcissus. They have the same fragrance, white, multiple flowers per stem. They might be suitable for you. Let me know if you want me to save you some bulbs this summer if I get around to dividing them. I have a couple that are double (sorry, not for trade yet, ha):

Susan, if you divide them, send me a couple and I will try them here. It is always worth a shot. The doubles are fantastic! What a super photo.

I will save you some nice big Thalia bulbs, Hazel.
It will be July or later, though. We are going on vacation the last half of June (Oregon and Washington).
Hope my plants make it...my DH's friend is going to plant/cat sit.

Thanks, Susan. Wow, Oregon and Washington are beautiful states. When I visit the area around Seattle, I drool all over the plants.

Okay, I will watch out for drool while I am there, and take a hankie to catch mine, LOL.
Actually, we are heading to Mt. Rainier, the Columbia River Gorge, the Oregon coast, and Olympic National Park. We are flying in to Seattle, but that is about all of it we will see. As a rule, we prefer nature over cities for vacations.
We might get over to Vancouver Island...I have heard that Butchart (spelling?) Gardens in Victoria are really worth seeing. Maybe I could trick DH into that somehow.

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria are breathtakingly beautiful. When I visited them, I didn't want to leave even after spending the whole day there. I told everybody else to go ahead and leave and that I was going to hideout somewhere in the gardens during the night. I wanted to spend the rest of the week there hiding out at night and looking at plants in the daytime. What is interesting is that this huge place had no "weeds" and I saw nobody tending the plants. Maybe they work at night, I could have checked this out if my family had not grabbed me by both arms and dragged me to the car. I think that your DH will be enchated with the gardens as well. Mine was and he wasn't much of a plant person at the time. After he tended to my plants last summer when I couldn't, he has become much more interested in plants. Be sure to go there. If you don't, you will be missing one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The Mt. Rainier area is a sight to behold too. I am so happy you are able to have such a great vacation.

Thanks for the encouragement (I think!). Ha. Now how can I work that into our busy itinerary?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Gotta find a way!

I've been trying to un-naturalize mine for 2 years! LOL LOL You can have as many of my bulbs as you like :-D I gave away over 1,000 bulbs last year..Must not have worked ;-/

My goodness, you must have 100 green thumbs! When they bloom, it must look almost magical! That's the way I wish mine looked. The problem is that there are very few daffodils (narcissus) plants that do well here because of our warm winters. Thanks for the offer, though.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Kim, I'll take any bulbs you don't want! I'm trying to cheer up my side of the road and my woods in spring. I used to have thalia at my old place but none here so far. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.
