Went to one of the local nurseries and found a new pond iris I did not have.

Is that the name of it? Pond Iris? I have a pond created by an earth dam, it's running water unless we have a really dry spell. Could I plant this iris next to my pond? I'm having to replace everything after Hurricane scoured my bayfront yard! I have some Japanese Iris that survived, wondered if this one would do well here (Floridatown in Santa Rosa County).

I live not too far from you in Okaloosa county. It is a Louisianna Iris. They love to grow in bog areas. I have some of mine in pots in the pond, but also have a few in a nearby bog area I created. From what you describe, it sounds like a perfect spot for iris. Louisianna Iris came from the banks of the Mississippi, which would flood and then recede. Here is some great info on this iris.
