Finally spring has come to Wpg....

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Isn't it wonderful Wilma!Ü They are predicting that tomorrow it will be +25C here (thems summer temps!).... with it is supposed to come rain but April showers do bring on May flowers!!!!!!!! :D Ü :D

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

We had 17 C here today. I managed to plant the Magnolia, Camelia, a Japanese Maple that I have had stashed in my basement for 2 months, the Red Hot Poker that Sandy gave me, and the New Zealand Flax in my new flower bed in my front yard. It was a gorgeous day to mess around, so I spent most of it outside or in my Greenhouse. Ya gotta love it!

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

Oh lovely weather coming my way +18 C for tomorrow, and Friday too. maybe some rain but we sure coud use it to clean up the city,, and to get rid of the rest of the snow..
Old FlowerGirl sounds like you got good trades, Now gotta make them grow real good as they might be used for trades for next time..
Lilypon you keep send those warm temps over here to Wpg.
will be waiting for it to hit +25C soon.
happy gardening

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

No fair...it was cool here today in Lotusland...about 12 C. LOL Seriously.....I'm glad you guys are getting some warm temperatures....you deserve it.

Phew Donna, for a second there I was thinking that you brought all those plants back with you from your trips to the nurseries out here. I hope they all do all right.

Sandy

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

I did bring them from the RU, Sandy. I brought home 13 plants counting the trades and purchases. BTW, that book that I heard of from you and ordered a used copy from Amazon (Perfect Plants) was here when I got home (figures, eh?) Man, it's a lovely book and in mint condition too. Great reading and lots of good info and even better photos. I got another one a couple weeks ago that I really like too. It's called Better Homes and Gardens New Garden Book. Excellent too.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

it's about time you guys get some decent weather. Here it's raining, and cool, but not quite windy.

North Vancouver, B.C, Canada

Yuckky here today. For once, I wish I was back East! How is the flooding in Winnipeg?
Solomon.

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

Winnipeg is ok water is high but No flooding...
nice and warn here today..

It's not raining here and the sun is trying to come out.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Rained for awhile this morning here which was good for the plants and shrubs I planted yesterday, but now the sun is trying to shine. Our high is supposed to be cooler today at only 12C. I am going to plant some bulbs today. Acidenthera Murietae,Abyssinian Glad, Eucomis, Pineapple Lily, Z.rehmanni, Pink Calla Lily, and Canna x generalis, Red King Humbert Canna. Love digging in the dirt...:D

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Received an email from Inanda and she is WestJetting it back to Winnipeg.

Another gorgeous (almost hot) morning here. When I went to open the front doors of the library I saw a line-up of about 150 folks (book sale today). I opened the door and stepped quickly to the side.......one man said he felt sorry for me (trampling came to his mind too;). The peeps were well behaved however and I had time to get out of their way.

There are no words to describe how wonderful these temps are for early spring on the prairies. ;)

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Did Inanda mange to get to Kelowna to see her son before West jetting back, Pam, or did she leave straight from Victoria?

Our weather too, has been lovely the past three days with highs in the high teens yesterday and forecast again for today. Rain in the forecast for Monday, but that's ok. The precipitation will keep everything green. More bulb planting on the schedule. Today it's Dahlias. :D

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

She didn't mention whether she saw him or not Donna....she had planned on stopping in Moose Jaw so was letting me know she wouldn't make it (this trip anyways).

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

I wonder. If you remember, she was going to try and drive as far as Kelowna and then decide from that point whether she'd risk trying to get the VW bus over the Rockies. I think she made the right choice, although I know how badly she wanted to bring her bus home to Winnipeg with her. Sentimental reasons and all. Well the old girl got us to a lot of different places in Victoria, didn't it? (Not Ginny...the bus) Can't thank Ginny enough for driving us around and sharing all of her knowledge of Victoria. (((Ginny)))

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Am back in YWG, in one piece. VW is in sons garage in Kelowna. Needs probably gaskets ---

Sons (rented) garden is so full of goodies. Will have to do some digging when van is repaired and I return for it. Planted a piece of the NZ flax for him.

Had a lovely day travelling around that part of the world.

Had such a great time meeting everybody. Hope it doesn't take Linda & Cheryl too long to recover from the hordes. Linda and Cheryl, just loved your greenhouse. Cannot thank you enough for your hospitality and other kindnesses.

Great to hear you are home safe and sound, Ginny. Also glad that you'll eventually get the VW bus back to Winnipeg when all fixed up. Can't thank you enough either, for being such a good tour guide while we were in Victoria.

Donna

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I'm glad to see your home again Ginny Ü.....sorry to hear your van acted up tho. I too would like to thank you on Jen's and my behalf for giving us such a wonderful tour of a beautiful city!

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

Welcome home Ginny

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

A VW internet friend went and had a look at it today. He thinks it is only slipping fan belt wheich meant the cooling wasn't working properly so that caused oil to overheat. So, if that is all it is, I'll go back and get it in a couple of weeks - after he has driven it up and down some mountains for awhile.

Maybe I ditched it and came home too quickly. Ah well. Just felt I didn't trust it any more till it was gone over properly by a knowledgeable person/garage. Time will tell. I HAVE to turn into a better mechanic.

Inanda

Winnipeg,, MB(Zone 3a)

Good to know that is the problem,
hope that is what it is, and nothing more..
raining and my plants love it..

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Ginny, so glad you made it home safe & sound.
