Growing Brugs in a greenhouse

Fort Davis, TX(Zone 7b)

I am a complete newbie, to this forum and to brugs. We are in the process of building a greenhouse, should be finished by next week and I have one brug that I just received from Parks Seeds (saw it in their catalog and had to have one). It's still a seedling and after reading the other posts I'm convinced I don't have it in large enough pot but should I wait a week or two before transferring it?

My main question is during the winter in the greenhouse, does it need to go through a dormant period or will it continue to bloom all winter? Of course, I don't expect it to bloom this year but I'm just thinking ahead. I plan on setting it outside on the deck during the summer.

Thanks to all the experienced ones on this site for your help.

Welcome to the brug forum. Your brug won't need to go through a dormant period. I'm envious of anyone who has a greenhouse that they can afford to heat over the winter. How great it would be to be able to smell brug blooms during the cold evenings of winter. You are surely going to get more brugs before next winter, aren't you? LOL! You must become addicted like the rest of us here.

Hi medic. If your Brug came in a small pot check to see if the roots are filling the pot. If they are then it's ok to put it into a 1 gallon. Let the roots fill the 1 gal and then you can pot it up into it's permanant container.

Thanks Brugie and Snowhermit. Yes, I will probably get more brugs. I've started moving some plants
into the greenhouse even though it doesn't have doors yet and the electrical and plumbing aren't in yet,
but I'm running out of room in the house for all my seedlings, etc. I'm kinda waiting to see how well
this brug does that I bought from Park Seed before I buy any more brugs. Can I expect this one that
I have to bloom next year? I just hate the waiting.....

I'm guessing that if it is a stout plant and your frost day holds off, you could get bloom later this summer. I could be wrong too....everything depends on the weather and the fertilizing routine, etc. Once outside, give it morning sun and afternoon shade. You should do fine with it. Remember....we love pictures here, so keep us updated.

I grow our brugs in a greenhouse.
Winter, we grow cool to cut heat bills and also so the growth slows and the plants a chance to 'rest' a few months.
But many continue to bloom thru winter.

Would 40ºF be too cold in a greenhouse for Brugs? The heater in my greenhouse doesn't kick on until the temperature goes down to 40ºF. I could raise the temperature some more, but if I do, my citrus trees will start to bloom and produce new shoots in early February.
