Our fur children

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

DH and I have been married just over a year, and these 2 will always be our 1st children. Both have such unique personalities.

Squirt our Rat Terrier is such a Momma's boy, and my best friend. He follows me ALL over the house, and never lets me be alone. He has such a sweet heart. If for some reason I cry, he is right there licking my face, making me giggle, and making the tears and most the pain go away. He is forever helping me in the yard, and loves to eat the grass. I sware he understands what I am saying when I talk to him. If not, he sure puts on a good show.
Squirt was here before my DH came into the picture, so it was quite a territory fight for both my men LOL. Thank goodness DH understands how much Squirt just thinks Im his, and worked around it. Both have become wonderful friends, and learn to share LOL.

Jazzy our Dalmation/Black Lab mix came into the picture 3 years ago. I saw a flyer for her at my job, and looked at her eyes, and knew I needed her. She came from a home where "the other dogs didnt like her, and she was in fights all the time". I was nervous about getting her, mostly because Squirt was the only other dog in the house, and I didnt know how he would act. The previous owner brought her over for a "visit", brought her things in the house, and pretty much said thank you, and left. LOL If THAT wasnt traumatic for all. DH didnt even know I called the previous owner about a visit. He wasnt to happy, and neither was Jazzy.
For about 2 months she secluded herself in any corner of the house she could find that we were not in. She did not want any part of us. Any little noise would scare her to death, even opening a soda can. Eventually with us forever telling her we want her company, and what a good beautiful girl she was, and sometimes coaxing of a ball, she started to come around. Now she also follows us wherever we go, is not affraid of noises, and just absolutely squeezes my DHs heart (mine too but he thinks his is touched more LOL). She is just a wonderful girl, and not only Squirt's "Sissy" but his WONDERFUL friend.
She also saved Squirt from being put in a kennel everyday when I would leave for work. (He hated it, and I hated doing it). He had such seperation anxiety, that he chewed doors, ripped up carpet trying to get out the doors, put holes in my carpet, and would pee on everything. Now that we have her, he has company, and has stopped all his not ok behavior. She has just been a blessing to us, and has such a sweet, huge heart.
Both dogs just absolutely have our hearts. We can not imagine (or want to imagine) our lives without them. What Godsends!
