A gracious DGer sent me a box of Lettuce (to distribute to the people who wanted it on the Plant Trading Forum Thread I started) When they arrived today they had lost all their roots, roots look healthy just not attached. I can't imagine why??
I put them in plain well water hopeful that they grow new roots, any ideas on how to speed up the process. I do not have aquatic fertilizer.

Need Help Please....
I've put them in a bucket of water with miracle gro in it. I don't remember how much I used though.
Are the roots intact in a bunch or did they fall apart? I would think you might get better results by floating the roots in water, I would punch out a small hole in styrofoam and pull the roots though and let it float.
Good Luck, I wish I could grow them in my pond :^(
Master, nice to meet you! You can grow them for the summer. :)
Judy, I wish I knew what to tell you. Maybe if you just throw all of it in the water, they'll grow back?
I tried to save one over winter. It is in a fish tank and I feed it all winter. Had one then two then four and now 8 of them. But they got smaller each time. now they are about the size of a quarter. LOL
Feed them but did not do any good. How does everone else do it.
These poor babies!! They were damp and in zip lock baggies, but it's like they were zapped by a lazer or something and all their roots just fell off. Even the fine hair root fall off when they are touched. Strange!!
Maybe they got cooked along the way.
