On Centaurea "Montana" checking out the pollen
Painted Lady
That's a beautiful picture! I LOVE that plant!! Is that something you are growing?
Yes I have the plant
I'd love to see a pic of the plant!
It looks like a weed from the stem on down.
So?
My thoughts exactly! I've been Googling it. It's also called "blue cornflower" and it's perennial. I want some! It reminds me of the Sea Holly that I love.
Is it Chichory? It is plentiful along NC roadsides.
I am growing blue bachelors buttons, I hope they are the same.
That doesn't look like a weed, to me at least. I wish I had known about this just a few days ago. A friend just got back from Austin and ran by the LBJ Wildflower Center and came back asking if anyone grows Texas Betony. I could have had her get me one. Oh well, I love a good hunt.
...found out I can't believe everything I read. I read this was also called Texas Betony, but when I looked that up, it's not. But I'm still going to search for it.

The term "weed" is a judgement call, me thinks.
hey konkrete~
I thought that you were the quintessence of knowledge on butterflies. Now I see that they also feast on weeds. What an enlightenment!
and imway~
John:
You're absolutely right. We agree. It now develops that a "weed" can be anything that we. personally, did not plant in that particular place.
What a great pic...my compliments!
Monterey, Outstanding picture. Thank you.
Beautiful Picture of a Beautiful Butterfly!
