I just made this post on the Cool Climates Gardening forum. It shows what we're dealing with here. Just let me say that it looks like the depths of January and leave it at that. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/496420/
Yesterday was rainy and raw, but Friday was gorgeous, sunny and warm. I pruned a big old rose bush and did some minor clearing away in a couple of small areas and Stan worked on rerouting the water that seems to think it needs to run down to the barn with the new shed in the way of it's former path. When it dries out, there is a great need for a lot of gravel in the driveway and over in and around the shed.
Friday night was the warm sugar social up at church and a young man who grew up with our girls told us about his bicycle trip across the US. He had been in the Navy, having gone to school on an ROTC scholarship and as soon as he was out, he and a friend took off from Norfolk VA and biked to San Diego CA. He said he might even do it again, but he would choose his companion a little more carefully and take a little more time. They road an average of 100 miles every day and took 37 days to do the whole trip. The guy he was riding with was in the middle of a failing relationship - not an ideal situation for either!
back to watching the snow fall!
