Blooms Now

Commerce, GA(Zone 8a)

These somehow survived the hurricanes, with a little TLC as in staking & repositioning in the ground.

They look wonderful!! I am also wishing you luck with the smoking. NOT an easy thing to do for sure!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

What a crew you have going on there Melba. They're beautiful. The cutting that you gave me are doing great, (at the RU in Feb) They are about 20" but no signs of blooms...I getting very impatient.

Also, I see that you keep yours about 5' high. Is that all these grow or do you keep pinching them back?

Nancy Lee

PS. Great going on the cigs. I'm off the 2 1/2 pk now for almost 20 years. Never thought I would make it 20 days. But now there is such a feeling of freedom. Plus the greatest feeling is "I DID IT".......

Commerce, GA(Zone 8a)

Happy, did you plant them in the ground or in pots? You know they like to be fertilized twice a week, & the ones in pots watered more often. Maybe you will have blooms soon!
Mine are all in flush bloom now. Wish you could see & smell them! I will try to get more pictures soon.
Cigarettes had to go! Too many bronchial problems! Just hope I never smoke again. Still in Phase 1 of the patches, but I refuse to give up this time no matter how Stressed I get! LOL!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I quit, maybe 16 - 17 months ago, cold turkey. If I can do it you can too. Do I feel better?? Well, I wasn't sick before or after. Where I really feel the difference, is that I'm getting more done, my concentration is better, not always wondering where the cigs, lighter and ashtray were hiding, or having to get out in the rain, snow, what ever to buy the cigs, AND the cost really added up. Mainly I'm glad I did it to prove to myself that I could. Someone told me about a gum they thought was really good, I think the name is Commit, but not certain, I didn't try it.

Great going on your brugs too, I cannot wait to have blooms!!!!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

No, noone told me about the fertilizer. I'm a newbie at all this. I have MG 15-30-15. OK? Oh, I put them in the ground.

Happy, I have always used miracle Grow. Just lately I have been useing Scott's Peters Excell Cal-Mag. Seems to be doing good. There is a thread brugmansia 101 somewhere. That has lots of info about Brugs. Here is a good linkhttp://calastropicals.com/content/page1.html
