I had just a few plants with a brown spot on the leaves----looks burnt.
what is it?
whats this brown burnt spot on pepper, tomato
kinda looks like they are burnt. just on 3 tomato plants. I pinched the burnt leaves off. No fertilizer has been on the plant leaves except some mild liquid. I just sprayed the foilage lightly as I was watering the peppers and tomatoes in the 6 inch. Could water that gathered on the greenhouse poly on top of house caused a reflection that burnt the leaves. I noticed a few puddles of water on top of greenhouse the other day and the sun would shine through it and a beam of lite would shine on the plants like it would if you held a peice of glass up to burn a peice of paper. Is that possible. Any way---i pushed the poly up to make the water roll off.
I wish I could help you but I dunno. If it's just on one leaf I wouldnt' worry too much. It doesn't look like any disease I am familiar with.
Hi there
just came across your post - there are several threats related to this sort of thing over in tomatomania and the veggie patch yahoo groups - anyhow - I had exactly what you show - and I had a bunch of it - I ignored it - blamed it on too much misting with H2o + Peters and it running to the ends of the leaves and hanging there long enough to burn the edges - even tho I had fans running that I thought would dry everything out before that would happen - I cut the "bad" stuff back - no more problems here - I hope your experience is similar.................Perry
ps - How is the black spot/early blight problem in alabama? Bought from Bonnie Plants last year and lost my butt due to their plants............which is why I am now growing my own...........Has it always been a big problem down there - I never got hit big time before - and hope I never do again...........what a mess!
so far---i always grow my own plants and i dont have a problem with diseases and blights. I think it has everything to do with how you care for the plant but then again im not a tomato expert. I think its best to plant them far apart when grown in the field or garden to help give more air flow with in the plants. Especially with all the rain we get. This year mine are in the greenhouse so i can control the environment a little better. but i have big greenhouse.
