Do they need to be hardened off?

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Yes, most definately.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

I went crazy and moved most of mine out on the back porch. The low for the next 8 days is suppose to be 40, then I'm past the last Frost date of 4/8. My bed is next to a window and I sleep with it open so if the temp drops I'll wake up and start moving them inside..............

Judy

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Ada, they look good compared to mine! lol I'm just getting leafage after losing them all to aphids and spider mites all winter long lol. But I have to say I've got some buds on my daily inspection I spyed some and I was all excited.

What do you mean when you say 'do they need to be hardened off'?

Julie

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Julie, you have to get them accustomed to being in the sun after being inside all winter. You give then a little more sun each day or so. I have mine in dappled shade right now. They get about two hours of direct morning sun before ten or eleven AM.

Ada, I had to laugh when I looked here at the first picture. Before I enlarged it I thought that red containter was one of those large trash debri dumpsters. I had this mental flash of your operations in your GH. Dumpster bins loaded with Brugs!!! LOL

Any how after I got over being jealous of all your babies I realized how much work you have ahead of you. Lookin Good and hope the weather holds out for you.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3a)

Way to go Ada- back breaking work getting all those little fellas out for the day. Joelle

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Pretty funny, Kin. LOL I had to buy me another little red trailer. I keep the other one full of potting soil mixture and the big trailer has pine straw on it.

Joelle, it'll really be back breaking planting them al. LOL

You sure have a lot of work to be done. I bet you have it down to a science.
Do you have any help or is this something you do on your own?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Holly Cow! Did you hear me drop dead on the floor from shock? I'm exhausted just looking at all those plants. The thought of watering and feeding makes my head spin. Your going to have a beautiful show and a full time job. Can't wait to see pictures this summer.

Judy they can handle 40F with no problem.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wow Ada! I don't envy all the work you will have digging all those holes! I'll bet your yard will be beautiful this summer with all those blooms.

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

You really have been a busy young lady. Thanks for these pictures Ada.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Do I have any offers for help. LOL Most of thess outside are the oldies and multiples of them which I will be thinning out this year to make room for all my new seedlings. I wish I could get all my neighbors interested in growing Brugs. LOL

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

:::Running mapquest to see how long it would take me to drive to Kannapolis from Ohio:::

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

Is Gratiot close enough to be considered as a neighbor? Jazzpunkin, you were looking at the map, what do you think?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

What about Buffalo? How far south would I have to go?
Ada, be careful, you just might have an army of volunteers showing up at your door LOL

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

I believe we have the north side covered anyway

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I'll probably need an army, Jackie. LOL I just heard we're supposed to have frost tomorrow night then it'll warm back up. Everybody send me a blanket to keep my Brugs warm. LOL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Oh my Ada! There are two words you don't want to hear after you lug all your Brugs outside and that's COLD FRONT and FROST!
I hope it misses you.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Terry, I knew it was bound to happen. It always does.LOL It's supposed to be 35 tonight but the winds are supposed to blow tonight and tomorrow so it will keep the frost away but tomorrow I'll be busy. LOL The trees will protect them some.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh Ada, I feel your pain...outside it is snowing here...yes, we've had a winter weather advisory all day and it's sticking to the ground. It started last night. It's the worst April Fools Day trick mother nature has played on us here in awhile....teasing with 60 degree weather and then this....so mine are all sitting by the windows, leaves practically pressed up against the glass, waiting to go outside.
I hope it passes you by, and just keeps on here, what's a few more days of waiting. :)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Jackie, our moutains got a good bit of snow and it's still snowing there. According to the weatherman (if you can believe them LOL) tonight and tomorrow night will be our coolest nights for a week but last year we had freezing temps the last of April. Nothing last year was normal about the weather here. LOL I sure hope this year will be better.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, what a lot of work ahead of you. I can't imagine. I'd like to offer to help, but my few wear me out. Planting all of those would kill me. LOL!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Shirley, I thrive on being overwhelmed. LOL

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

You're going to have a beautiful Brug forest by the Summer time!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I sure hope so, Shirley1.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Last night the weather man said we'd have a big frost in the morning so I worked all day moving Brugs and tonight, he says, it's only going to get down to forty. Has anyone ever shot a weatherman? LOL

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Bless your heart Ada!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Shelly. I'll move them back out tomorrow. LOL

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Right there with you Ada... Actually my husband moved all of mine in yesterday while I was out. He was checking the weather and it was suppose to go down to 38F. He didn't want me to have to move them. :) (yes, he scored some points) Heck, I wouldn't have brought them in. It was 40F when I was up at 6a.m.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Guess I will wait another two weeks then move mine out and take chances, I have to go to far around the house to move them back and forth, and I am not up to picking them all up and carying them back in

Goshen, OH(Zone 6a)

I think I also will wait a couple of weeks, that is back breaking work. I am sure glad that I don't have as many as you Ada, Are you sure you have enough time to do anything else except pot brugs, LOL.

Saturday night here in where I live we had a six hour power outage and the GH got down to 35 Okay my mind said PANIC, well how do you PANIC at 11:30 at night. I dragged all the brugs and the Jasmines into the house, threw the grandson out of his room and filled it with plants AWWW saved the plants. woke up Sunday to sun and 60 degrees dragged them back out to the GH gave the kid back him room and said, This can not happen again I am crazy mind is mush and I still love those darn brugs.

JoAnn

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL JoAnn. Be there and done that. Hopefully the weather will get warm and stay warm

Datdog, it could have gotten down to zero and my DH wouldn't have pulled them inside. LOL
