Thanks, sugarweed--'Sydney' is a very nice hippeastrum with good 'presence'--it would be very lovely in a holiday arrangement... According to Veronica Read, it was bred by Kwekersvereniging Amaryl in The Netherlands. It is available through

internationally, however, I bought it at Smith & Hawken in the post season sale. Other than that, I think it is relatively newly marketed and is scarce in the States.
