Is this a seed pod on my AF? It's been indoors on a windowsill, how could it have been pollinated?
How will I know when it's ready for the pickin?
Seed Pod?
Sure looks like a pod to me! It will take 4 to 9 months for the seed pod to be ready to pick. The stalk will shrivel when the seeds are ready. let them dry a bit longer, then cut the pod open and there should be 100's of seeds in the pod.
I hope I helped,
Trish
Thanks for the help! Maybe I should look into crossing Afs.
I've crossed daylilies for years, now I'm getting into AV's to help me through the winter. So far, crossing AV's has been pretty easy. The big trick is getting something unique and different in the offspring.
Do you have pics yet of the results? I'd like to see if you do.
Seed pod? How did you get that? I have been growing AFs for years, I have a space in my foyer with artificial light and natural light. They are pretty much always in bloom, but I have never seen anything that looks like a seed pod. I want one....I do pick the flowers off after they are dead to promote more flowers. What else should I be doing? Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I love growing AFs -but don't really know too much about them other than I love having something flowering in the winter....Thanks.

I know what you mean Cindy.... It was unexpected.... I would have thought it'd need pollination of some sort.
I also some how had my sinniginia produce a seed pod!!! I didn't even know until a couple of days ago. I already collected it and there's seed inside! Again, it was grown in the house w/ no pollinators that I can think of.
CMALON,
Here is a link that might help you get you own seed pods.

CapMicha,
No I don't have any pictures yet. Sorry, I only just started. The only thing I have to show for my attempts is seed pods. Since they take 4 to 9 months to ripen, it will be a while before I have pictures.
Trish
Thank you Trish. That is very helpful. I am going to give it a try.
