My aunt and I are looking for a place or places to purchase one or more Butia Capitatas (Pindo/Jelly Palms) in the Greenville/Spartanburg Area (Zone 8a- I have seen several growing successfully). In addition, any help or information concerning winter care that is needed in this area (if any) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Butia Capitata in the Spartanburg Area, SC
Perhaps palmbob will stop by as he knows a lot more about palms than I do, but I do grow this palm and have harvested fruit from it. My understanding is that anything below 15F could cause some damage.
Here is the PlantFiles entry http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/57055/index.html
And any number of links to more information from Google:

Don't know about purchasing in that area, but perhaps some of the Google links will lead you to an online vendor or local source.
