i just sent some seeds to India. i had to write on there it was seeds and they were a gift and how many for the customs form.

i asked a friend and she says that i did it all wrong and hopefully customs doesnt come after me. Now i am really scared as this is my first time sending seeds overseas to someone.

should i be worried????

No, you should not be worried.

If in doubt, ask your local Post Office.

My seeds to Europe were marked as
yours, and this was advice from my
Post Office.

Blenheim, New Zealand

I try to remember to ask anyone sending me seeds, from overseas , to write "Garden Seeds" on the envelope ,, Genus and species on the seed packet.
If they do that, and It's is opened by customs. I will receive all the seeds sent that are allowed into New Zealand.
I f a package is opened , with no mention of seeds. I will get nothing but a letter from customs , with two options ,, They will destroy the seeds for no cost .....or they will return to sender for a cost of $49.00 , that I can not afford.
I think you have done the right thing Boots

Royalla, Australia

Hi There,

I am in Australia and when I have requests to send items to other countries I ring their embassy here to find out what, where, how and why before I send the items out. After I have checked on my end and have asked the customer to check on their end if both lots of information are the same then I send the package. So far - touch wood! - I have not had any problems with sending items to other countries that are allowed in.

Just get the person to whom you are trading or selling to check on their end as well. The only requirement that we have for eg calla seed is that they must say species zantedeschia.

I hope that this helps you. You can not be held responsible if you have checked and the buyer - trader has checked.

Cheers
Windale
