Mel, here is the orchid I didn't kill

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I think it's got over a hundred buds on it, the flower stalk is multi branched.
BTW, the leaves in the picture don't belong to the orchid, they are either Japanese Iris or LA iris(I can't remember which those are)

WONDERFUL, Suz! You really can grow orchids! Make sure Bill stops by on his next trip through Tenn. so I can send more your way!!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Thats BEAUTIFUL Susie!!!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Beautiful, Susie.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

WTG Susie .... really really pretty!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It has about 20 blooms open today. It's soooooo delicate looking. We are having high winds again today and a tree limb fell, but missed the orchid by about 6 inches!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's so pretty. This is the only plant that I can't get to grow. I kill them faster then I can blink. LOL

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Is this orchid called "Baby Sherry". It looks familiar to me.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Bugfreak, not sure of the name. I don't think it had a tag when I got it. It would have come from Home Depot or Lowes.
I used to have lots of orchids until we had a heater failure in the greenhouse and they got too cold and most of them died. This is one that survived.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Wow! Too cold even in your zone? I'm glad to hear that this one survived for you. Does it smell like lotion? Does it smell at all?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

BugFreak, we used to live in zone 7, that's where the greenhouse got too cold, then during the move here it was cold down to Gulfport, MS and more died. We had a freeze here last Christmas(first freeze in 15 or more years), so we do get cold. Our cold weather lasted 2 days. I know that's a really short winter, but for tropicals it was devastating. Stuff is still trying to recover.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Oh, I see. I know what this is like. I moved to Denver Colorado From San Antonio Texas and took TONS of vanda orchids (among other tropicals). Boy was I in for a rood awakening. To make a long story short, I have none of them now.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

BugFreak, many of mine were vandas too, I just love those.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Those are my absolute FAVORITE. So are the tiny miniatures. There's just something about them.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Looks wonderful Susie!

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Susie-very pretty. How have you been!!!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hi Barb, I've been soooooooo busy. Every time at work when I think I get a break, more work comes in and my garden has to wait! How are you doing?

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Wow, Susie that is so cute and tiny. HELLO! Mel HELLO Barb!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hey Tracey, haven't seen you in many moons! I thought the possums had carried you off.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Put that possum on a rope, gonna tighten the noose if it doesn't quit buying Harley parts! Spending all my plant money...BAD POSSUM!

Guess what I just bought....
Guess....

Abutilon Ruffles

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Aaaw, how thoughtful of you for getting me an early birthday present!
Tell that possum we're gonna feed him to the gators if he doesn't stay away from those Harley stores!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Well I just got in trouble at kartuz..... Iochroma's and Abutilons.. I ordered them allllllllllllllll......hehe teach him to order Harley parts. Except Grandiflora Iochroma, can't stand that dirty feet smell...

Maybe I need one of those stinky ones to keep the gators out of the garden!
Now you've made me have to go plant shopping. I saw the mostest beautiful hibiscus, it was like Sunshower, only blood red with gold flecks, huge flower!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Susie that's beautiful. That's not the last pot we stuffed in the trailer is it? Tracey Abutilons imagine that. I see you are still obsessed with them. lol

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

hey tracy, susie, and mystic-good to see all of you and surprise, surprise your are talking silly and about plants. If you need some possums, just let me know. We trap them and turn them loose several miles away near the river. I think we just turned number 10 loose today and I live in the city. Susie, maybe I could send them to you-they would make good gator food.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That's okay Barb, we have our own possums(and also "possum on the half-shell"). Crafty little critters stole my papayas; between the possums and raccoons, I didn't get any last year.
Peggy, I think this is the last one we stuffed in the trailer! I'm glad I didn't leave it.
I had Tracey's abutilons, but managed to kill every one of them. They don't like TX much, maybe the gators scared them!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Hey Evverybody! Suzie is that a Nun's Orchid? I got one the other day and it is about to bloom. Thje lady told me where I bought it that it could be put in the ground and mulched real good and it may overwinterbut I won't take a chance.
Imagine that - Tracey getting an abutilon!! By now, you must have an abutilon forrest! If not, I have one for you that has waited on you for over a year now. It is still looking okay, in a pot, not getting much bigger, but not dead.

Tracey with an abutilon would be like Mystic with a daylilly, Suzie with a tropical vine, Barb with a brug, and Frannie with a smile - just seems to fit! And me with a weed growing up my fence that I thought was castor bean!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Roz, you are the elephant ear queen! I have never seen elephant ears grow as fast and as big and the ones you grow! They were gorgeous!

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

hey Roz--what aroids do you have!!! I need your new list of ariods. Do you need any new aroids. Let me know if you need any aroids. LOL

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Hey, Barb, I'll have to ask Marie!!! LOL!!

Knoxville, TN

From orchids to possums to gators! Only at Daves Garden!!!

I think Susies orchid is an Oncidium. Sherry Baby maybe?

Tracey, please send me directions on hog tying that possum. Mine spends my plant money of fishing supplies and to top it off, never brings home any fish to eat!

Mel

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Mel, don't ever let your possum hang out with mine. He just learned how to surf fish. Wanna know how they do it? They take a big fishing pole with a giant hook on the end, a lawn chair and a cooler with beer to the beach. They stick a big PVC pipe in the sand, bait the big giant hook with stinky squid stuff, cast it waaaaaaaaaay out into the surf, stick handle end of fishing pole into PVC pipe stuck in sand, sit in chair and open a beer. They check the line and if nothing is on it, they open another beer. Repeat this step till all the beer is gone. He ain't brought a fish home yet.

Knoxville, TN

I LOVE IT, Susie! Sounds like a great way to get the possum out of the house for a day!! He may not catch a fish, but, bet he catches a buzz!!!!
