Long as I can remember, I've heard it was illegal to pick the state flower.
Appears its not, except on private property without permission.

I have property facing Hwy 59 between Cleveland and Livingston.
Some years I wait till the seed pods are drying & pull up plants that come up at random and reseed areas where I want better coverage.
I do nothing to prepare tha soil. In this respect I follow nature and jus drop them where ever. Works for me!
As the article says they are an annual so I don't pick or pull where I want them.
If you smile, your body smiles with you. This time of year always makes me smile.

Hit 36 here last nite, my smiles stared a little late but trust me. I have a big toothless grin all over me face.

Picking the Texas Bluebonnet on public property
Charlie,
Yeah, we got down to 36 too, and today it was in the 80's. Gotta love Texas!
I went to visit family in Brenham last weekend, between here and Navasota the indian paintbrush was supreme. From Navasota to Brenham the bluebonnets are really beginning to hit their stride. They look beautiful with indian paintbrush and everything else that's coming up! Thanks for clearing up the urban legend.
